Why Low Calorie Diet Plans Really Don't Work Well
Most diets are based to some extent on calorie deprivation. These low calorie diet plans simply will not work, because they are predicated upon self-denial. Sooner or later we give into temptation, as it is human nature to simply desire change when it comes to food. It is also too hard of a punishment to be denied food, as well as it is a natural compulsion to fill our stomach.
Emotionally and bodily it is too difficult on us as humans to remain hungry or not scoff down enough food. We punish ourselves by not getting enough fat or calories or just having one type of food. This can cause psychological tribulations and neurotic behaviors like bulimia or anorexia.
The most damaging diets for you nutritionally are the ones that make you to eat one sort of food only. A good example of this was the cabbage soup diet. We were led to trust that eating some magically fat burning mixture of cabbage, V8 juice and Lipton Onion Soup Mix combined with eating only bananas one day or just drinking milk another could bring on significant weight loss.
This is a good illustration of a diet that is based entirely on calorie withdrawal - about 800 to 1000 calories a day. Lack of food causes return weight gain, even if you go down a few pounds initially on this style of diet. This is because after denying yourself of the fats, oils and carbs that you desire all day you tend to splurge on them even more.
Another good example is the grapefruit diet, which is mostly all meat, no carbs, grapefruit and black coffee. It is also a diet that is below 1000 calories a day. Any diet that is that meager in calories is certain to be futile and it can also make you very sick. All humans must have an array of foods to perform well physically.
Think Weight Watchers is the best way to go? It isn't. The challenge with the Weight Watcher's Program is that you are still limited in the amound of calories you can consume and that the foods that you are allowed to eat or given to eat are often too acidic in nature. The result is that your body becomes more helpless to ailments in general, because the body is more prone to losing weight and not staying healthy by being in an alkaline state. The pre-packaged food involved with Weight Watchers is not that good for you either.
To put your body in an alkaline state you got to eat much more healthier foods. This entails the consumption of larger quantities of organic vegetables and juices. Track down a diet that is vegetarian in nature or built around the European food pyramid, and you will be more fit in the long run.
