How To Quit Smoking - What Is A Study In Smoking Control


Just for you smokers, a list on the ways to set your mind to the right place so that you make a very intelligent choice to stop smoking. This is really a determination that if you use your head it just does not make any sense to continue with your smoking at all. By constructing a plan and following it and by knowing what you are going to get as a reward for quitting this habit you will cause yourself and remind your own self even when you are tempted that the payoff is so much more for breaking the habit than to go on with behavior that is costing you dearly both financially and health wise.

I never thought I would be able to break my smoking addiction. It seemed like I was always waiting until the anxiety in my life was at a minimum to begin to stop and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as a stress reliever and I just didn't know what to substitute it with. I was leery of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight gain over five pound I was once again smoking.

It was not easy but I started some smoking control by replacing additional activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to break the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my decision to smoke or to quit. Otherwise what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The financial and health costs of a smoking habit makes the decision to continue one you cant really argue for in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you love.

After I made my list I hung this list up on my shower mirror and also on my bedroom door. I wanted everyday to see my motivation for changing my behavior this helped a lot since quitting smoking is a decision one has to establish day by day. As you stop smoking you have to presume there will be times when you will error but in the times past that I backslid, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I slipped and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.

As soon as I saw the scales go up I made sure to exercise more and not to substitute eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with anything I by and large would not do for myself. If I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette use always goes down. I can't say that I do not think about smoking from time to time and very likely always will but I also prompt myself that what you save is both money and health. Your clothes don't stink of smoke your hair doesn't reek of smoke and you can taste the food you eat. You can also put the hard cash you would have used for buying smokes into a saving account and watch it grow.
